I take this opportunity to introduce myself as a Managing Committee Member of Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi. I am here at Austin , Texas, for the last couple of months staying with my daughter and her husband. I shall return back to New Delhi on 26 December, '05.

I have an intense desire to help the cause of Ramakrishna Mission wherever I am, as a humble devotee. At present, during my stay here I have takenup the issue of Ramakrishna Mission Sevashram, Kankhal, Haridwar, with the approval of the Secretary Maharaj, Swami Nityasuddhanandaji of the centre.

This centre at Kankhal, Haridwar, was established at the instance of Swami Vivekananda in 1901. It is a Charitable Hospital engaged in treating 90% of the patients ,free of Costs, as the patients are extremely poor. The centre has no grant or aid from the Govt. or there are no Corporate Sponsors. As such , almost all the activities of the Sevashram are performed from voluntary public donations only. This year the centre is expected to treat about 300,000 patients. The centre needs $200 dollars to treat one TB patient only, and there are in thousands per year of TB patients, that are being treated by this centre.

With the approval of the Secretary Maharaj, I have developed a pamphlet here for circulation . I am making efforts during various gatherings in temples, as well as contacting Executive Committee members of different Associations in different countries, hoping to generate donations for this noble cause.

I am attaching herewith the Pamphlet with a request to your goodself to kindly circulate the same amongst the members and well wishers of your association so that kind hearted men and women come forward to help the efforts of Ramakrishna Mission Sevashram, Kankhal, Haridwar, India to save poor lives.

This could be the very platform wherein the child gets to know his/her culture and values, and learn to appreciate them and inculcate them.

From the very onset, with the launch of KIDZEE in 2003-2004, we have been overwhelmed by the response we received from India and overseas. Today we have more than 275 + KIDZEE centers at more than 110 locations across India and abroad.

We at Kidzee believe “Children are an important part of our lives, hence, giving them the right kind of education from a very tender age is of utmost priority. It is imperative for a child’s upbringing and smooth transition into the traditional model of education”.

We invite members of your esteemed association to be a part of the Kidzee Family if you too share our vision to give children the head start they deserve in a highly competitive environment.

In addition to the above, in the Asian sub continent, the Kidzee Model is designed to contribute to a social cause of women empowerment by infusing the feeling of self-reliance and entrepreneurship in women folk who have the penchant/passion to handle toddlers. It not only creates an opportunity for the talented and qualified women, including housewives to use their knowledge in an optimum manner for benefit of the society but also creates job opportunities for uneducated women as an attendant in the centers.

Subject: "Destination Bengal"

Friends,

We all share one thing in common, a deep rooted connection with Kolkata and West Bengal. and all of us here would love to see our Kolkata/West Bengal taking those long strides to once again become a leading state in India. The historical saying "What Bengal thinks today, India thinks tomorrow" may also get back its relevance.

The recent explosion in IT in India has touched Kolkata/West Bengal also. Having started late, Kolkata/West Bengal has made some good progress to attract domestic and foreign investment in this area and these investments have already started creating a good impact on the lives of the people. You may be also aware that the present government in West Bengal is putting a lot of efforts to showcase Kolkata/Bengal as a destination for companies that are setting up offshore centers in India. Kolkata is already the home of some big names like IBM, Unitek, TCS, Wipro, Lexmark, Cognizant, NIIT, Computer Associates, United Airlines etc. Presently the state's share is only 5.1% and the plan is to acheive 15% of the IT and ITES business in India by 2010.

We intend to join these initiatives and would like to float a non-profit organization called "Destination Bengal" that will try to promote Kolkata and West Bengal as the destination for companies who intend to set up offshore centers in India. The core group/organization is in an early stage of formation and would request all of you to actively participate in this effort to make it a success. Please let us know if anyone of you be willing to become a member of this core group towards driving this cause.

While the core group/organization is formed, we would request each one of you to forward this email to all your friends whom you think might be interested in this cause and let us know the name of the companies and the decision makers who are exploring the possibilities of setting up an offshore center in India in the near future.

We already have some data comparing the advantages of Kolkata against destinations like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Chennai. Please let us know if anyone of you be interested in the same. Also let us have your valued suggestion on how to drive this cause of promoting Kolkata/ West Bengal as a destination for setting up offshore centers in India.Let us also know if you have any questions.

We would look forward to receive your active participation and support.

With best of regards

Bishwanath Bhattacharyya

Dear Music Lovers

This is  to inform you that TAGORE ON DEMAND , a book of Rabindra Sangeet in Staff notation specially meant for Pianists with Treble and Bass clefs has been just published. It has abbreviated chords and proper Metronome markings. The notes have been written under strict supervision to include every detail like grace notes, slurs, ties and the repetitions. Different scales have been adopted to suit the actual flavour of the particular song.

The book contains 9 popular Tagore songs. A CD has been enclosed containing all the pieces and it will help you to listen to and pick up the tunes as per notations in this book. It costs you Rs. 150/- only.

As a teacher of The Calcutta School of Music, I feel students learning Piano should try the tunes and taste the speciality in it.

Notations of popular tunes in Indian languages are being computerised and the printed versions to be published very soon.

For any additional information, please feel free to contact us through e-mail at keyboards@vsnl.net or +91(33)24764473.

Dear Sir,

It is a pleasure informing you that Netaji Subhas Open University, Kolkata (West Bengal, India) in collaboration with the Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore, India (the Premier Language Institute in India under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India) has launched an Online Language Teaching Course on Bangla/Bengali Language on March 24, 2004. The Course was formally launched by His Excellency Sri Viren J Shah, Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal.

Bangla or Bengali (as it is often called) is one of the most populous languages (ranks 6th in the world) with approximately 250 million speakers throughout the world. West Bengal in India houses 80,221,000 people (2001 Census) most of whom speak Bangla. According to 2001 figures, 140,400,000 people speak Bangla in Bangladesh. Bangla is one of the 22 national languages of India recognized by the Indian Constitution and is the national and official language of Bangladesh.

As lots of people have approached us, asking us if we would be able to do something for the Bangla learners all over the world, especially the diasporic Indians, or Bangladeshis, settled in different parts of the globe, Bangla Online is our response to them. This Course will cater to the demands of people who love Bangla language, literature and culture but have no avenue to learn the language or learn about its rich literary heritage. This course, apart from imparting on the learners, the essential knowledge about the ethos and heritage of Bangla language, literature and culture, will suffice to the needs of the learners interested in getting an online Diploma Certificate. The successful completion of the Course will earn learners a Diploma Certificate, which will be jointly awarded by Netaji Subhas Open University, Kolkata and the Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore.

To learn more about the Course please log on to www.bangla-online.info.

As you are all working for the enhancement of Bangla language, literature and culture and trying to preserve its rich heritage I would request you to kindly pay a visit to our site and help promote the same.

For any query, suggestion and clarification please write to us.

With best regards,

Rajib Chakraborty
